Dominic J. Sanchez is a multimedia conceptual artist based in San Antonio, TX. Much of his work is rooted in a video practice supported by a recurring cast of illustrated characters that harken back to his Caribbean ancestry. Within the interplay between his mechanical and plastic arts practices lie themes of self-actualization and the excavation of the subconscious. His works have been featured and screened at Titan Studio, The San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum, Brick at the Blue Star Arts Complex, Run Pony Run Studios, and the Arts CUBE of the University of Texas San Antonio. Sanchez has been featured in the Texas-based art magazine Glasstire, while also acting as a significant contributor to projects such as Intimate Ecologies, a site-specific, audio-visual installation created by Katy McCarthy and Miles Friday in collaboration with the San Antonio River Foundation. Currently, he is an instructor of record and graduate research assistant at the University of Texas San Antonio, where he is an MFA candidate with a concentration in New Media.
